One of the most remote schools, the renovation work at Kawawa Primary School was completed in 2016.

Thanks to funding from British and Foreign Schools Society and a grant from the Scott Bader Commonwealth Fund we were able to open the pre-primary class.

There are currently 56 pre-primary children and 399 primary children enrolled at the school.

Kawawa Primary is linked with Kirmington St Helena's Primary School in  North Linconshire.

Renovation

This is how the school looked when we first visited

This is how it looks now

Hamis Hussi, Head teacher, says “We are grateful for the support of EdUKaid – this year we have enough resources for all our children to learn better and chalk for our teachers.”

The Education Officer of the Kawawa Ward says “I have been very impressed by the difference EdUKaid has made to our school – I never had experience of UK help at my schools before so thank you.  I have very much enjoyed the meetings and am able to take what I learn to our other schools I am officer for.  I tell my fellow officers of your work and my boss at municipal office.”

And it's lovely to hear Hadija, a pupil at the school, comment “I like the pictures on the walls best – they make me smile."
