Music, dancing, prizes and celebrations in Mikindani

Over 300 people joined us in Mikindani for a day of celebration to mark EdUKaid's 15 years of working to improve education in the Mtwara region.

The day began with traditional music and dancing from a local group followed by incredible performances from our pre-primary children, dancing from Likonde Primary School and a moving story acted using sign language by Rahaleo Deaf School.

EdUKaid's teaching team demonstrated the use of Montessori resources, showing the audience how they enable children to learn through play.

The top performing standard 7 students from across all 16 of EdUKaid's partner schools were awarded with prizes and the top performing school received a certificate of recognition for its achievement.

Guest of honour, Municiple Education Officer Flora Aloys Rugambarara, praised EdUKaid's contribution towards improving the quality of education in Mtwara and thanked them for giving children the chance of a better future.

Invited guests joined EdUKaid's UK and Tanzanian directors and trustees for lunch and to hear more about our plans for the future.

The day of celebrations concluded with a party at the Mtwara Montessori College where staff danced the night away.
