Experienced challenge organisers CharityLinks is offering a unique opportunity for riders to experience the delights of Uganda on two wheels guided by a highly experienced tour leader whilst transforming the lives of children in East Africa.

The challenge

A 9 day trip starting on 25th November 2023 covering 550 kilometres across beautiful Uganda with the option to travel on to Tanzania and visit EdUKaid projects at the end of your challenge - seeing for yourself the difference you will make.

Itinerary

  • Day 01: Arrival and preparation
  • Day 02: Transfer to Fort Portal and ride (39km) to crater lake accommodation
  • Day 03: Beautiful cycle through crater lake area to border of Queen Elizabeth National Park (95km, can easily be shortened
  • Day 04: Cycle through QE NP (76km, can easily be shortened) optional boat safari in the morning possible
  • Day 05: Cycle to Buhoma (58km)
  • Day 06: Transfer to Ruhija and cycle to lake Bunyonyi (+/-55km), lunch at the lake sleep in beautiful cabins on a tranquil island in the lake
  • Day 07: Cycle around a section of Lake Bunyonyi & after lunch transfer to Lake Mburo NP - optional gorilla trekking instead of cycling possible
  • Day 08: Cycle between zebras in the morning, after lunch return to Entebbe
  • Day 09: Return flights or optional transfer to Tanzania to visit EdUKaid projects

Transport

A mixture of private and local transport like tuk-tuks, private safari vehicles, buses, trains, canoes – whatever is the best and most sustainable way to get around.

Exploring the area

With a balance between free time and included activities, your experienced local leader will help you discover things you wouldn't find on your own.

Cost

The cost per person is £1,885 which includes:

  • Support vehicles and guides
  • Mountain bike and helmet hire
  • Accommodation (camping),
  • Meals and snacks
  • Park fees for Murchison Falls game drive
  • Rhino tracking activity
  • Evacuation insurance
  • Airport transfers.

Cost excludes flights, travel insurance, or entry visas which you will be required to arrange independently, or personal expenses including alcoholic beverages and optional excursions.  Discounted flights available.

Fundraising

Each participant is asked to raise or donate at least £2,500 towards the overall fundraising total.

As an EdUKaid team member, a percentage of what you raise/donate will directly benefit EdUKaid with the remainder contributing to a central pot which will be split amongst 6 other charities working in education in East Africa.  This will be the same for all challenge participants representing charities.
