Monitoring and Evaluation Co-ordinator

The Role

EdUKaid looking for a suitably experienced and enthusiastic individual to join our small UK based team.  Working closely with our UK based Programme Director and Tanzanian operational team, you will create and implement a monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) system that will enable the charity to collect reliable data, track beneficiary progress and accurately evidence the impact of our interventions.  You will have the opportunity to travel to Tanzania 2 or 3 times across the year.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Develop and implement a MEL system and tools that facilitate programmatic and organisational learning, encourage adaptive management and promote a culture of continuous improvement.
  2. Actively involve beneficiaries in the monitoring and evaluation of projects as they are best placed to judge the difference our interventions achieve improving the quality and reliability of our evidence.
  3. Build the capacity of our in-country team so that they can take responsibility for the management and ongoing development of the MEL system long-term. 
  4. Deliver training to ensure that all staff, volunteers, trustees and stakeholders have the appropriate knowledge, skills and tools to use the MEL system
  5. Support the charity to demonstrate and measure social return on investment..
  6. Contribute towards the development of digital marketing methods and tools to communicate our impact and share our learning.
  7. Produce impact assessments and evaluation reports suitable for a wide range of stakeholders.
  8. Support the UK Programme Director with general programme development and coordination.
  9. Deputise for the UK Programme Director when required.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Monitoring, evaluation and learning experience in the UK charitable or international development context.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent IT skills – including proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to effectively manage a diverse and changing workload.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Confident in traveling oversea independently.
  • Self-motivated, flexible and enthusiastic approach to work.
  • Proactive with a problem solving approach.

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Working within an International Development or humanitarian sector in a paid or volunteer capacity (preferably with overseas experience).
  • Training and capacity building across different cultures.
  • Using social media platforms for marketing purposes.
  • Confident in public speaking and networking.

Post Details

  • Salary £23,000 - £27,000 pa pro rata depending on experience
  • This post is for up to 25 hours per week - hours are flexible.
  • Home working will be considered with regular office time required.
  • This is initially a 1 year contract with the potential to extend.
