The COVID 19 virus has been spreading in Tanzania and although the number of official deaths has been low, cases are increasing in all areas. We want to support our friends in the Mikindani local area, who are increasingly fearful. We aim for 80% of our Act funds to support the Mikindani Medical Centre from whom we have received an application for protective equipment ( masks, aprons, gowns etc) and other essentials to enable their staff to work as safely as possible. We aim for 20% to go to EdUKaid COVID related expenses in menstrual health and inclusive education protecting the most vulnerable children in the area. This is presently in mask making and community education but might go on to include provisions for children such as in the HIV club related to some of the lock down procedures at the moment. We are grateful that EdUKaid are able to act on our behalf through communication, management and in organising the release of the funds through their offices in Mikindani which are next door to the Medical Centre. They are able to adapt also to a developing situation.
