Melanie, Beth and Jess Cusack raise £1500 shaving hair for EdUKaid

Melanie Cusack and her daughters Beth and Jess have made the ultimate sacrifice to raise money for Charity.  During a family trip to visit Beth who is studying in Perth, Australia, the ladies had their hair shaved off raising an incredible £1,500 for EdUKaid and a further £3,000 for Cancer Research and Macmillan Cancer Support.  Jess will also be donating her hair to Little Princesses – a charity which makes wigs for children with cancer.

Former Godolphin pupil Beth told us ‘As a family, we have all been extremely privileged to be able to finish primary school, high school and have the opportunity to go to university. However, there are millions of people who aren't so lucky.  We know that EdUKaid do incredible work improving access to education in Tanzania so we wanted to help these children have the chance of a better future.'

The money raised for EdUKaid will fund a teacher and a teaching assistant for a whole year in one of Tanzania’s most remote villages.  EdUKaid’s Programme Director told us ‘We are incredibly grateful to the Cusack ladies for undertaking such an amazing challenge to raise funds for our work with underprivileged children in Tanzania – thanks to them 162 children will have an education and the chance of a much better future.'

Melanie told us ’Cancer has touched too many lives of those we love, too often with devastating impact.' The money raised for Cancer Research will support their mission to bring forward the day when all cancers are cured.  Macmillan Cancer Support will use the money to help those affected by cancer deal with all the consequences of their diagnosis providing advice and guidance when they need it most.
