January sees the start of a new school year in Tanzania and we are very excited to welcome nearly 700 children to EdUKaid pre-primary classes.  This is the highest number of new pupils at our schools ever!

The lucky ones

These children are lucky enough to live in catchment areas surrounding EdUKaid partner schools, giving them the opportunity to benefit from a quality pre-primary education.  Here are some of those children on their first day.

The bigger picture

Sadly this is not the case for every child.  The Tanzanian government insists on children aged 4 – 6 attending school yet they provide no additional funding for schools to house or teach these children.  As a result, young children gather unsupervised under a tree waiting in the hope of some interaction.  This is problematic as the early years are critical to laying the foundation of a child's development.  As children enter primary school unprepared, they struggle starting formal education already disadvantaged.

What EdUKaid is doing about it

EdUkaid provides a quality early years education in 15 schools across the Mtwara regions giving nearly 2,000 children the opportunity to achieve their full potential.  This education is based on the Montessori model of child centred and play focused learning - achieving excellent results year after year.

Can you help?

By setting up a regular gift you could provide a child with the education they so desperately need and give them the chance of a better future.
