Training Plan

The running plan is aimed at the runner looking to advance from 5k to 10k running. You should be able to run 5k (3 miles) comfortably and may have raced a few races in the past and you are looking to move on with a structured and progressive programme. The aim of the plan is to prepare you to run a 10k running race, and help develop your overall running performance.

The plan is 12 weeks long and is broken up into 3 x 4 weeks sections. 3 weeks building your training, followed by a recovery week. The plan is designed to be progressive; athletes should be comfortable running 4 times per week with a single maximum run distance of 7 miles, in the final weeks. There will be 3 key running workouts each week. This plan will help to develop your fitness and strength to take on your 10k running challenge. The plan will guide you right up to your race day.

If you have any concern about your health or have any injuries please consult your medical practitioner before continuing with any training programme.

The Training plan is delivered through an online training diary. After purchasing your plan we will send you a login and password to your account. Your training plan will be loaded onto your online training diary. Each day you will get an e-mail to explain your training for that day and the next. Please allow 24 hours for the completion of this process. You will be able to record notes against any workouts and to keep track of your progress.
