Patrons
Mr Clive Barnett, Patron.
Clive Barnett was one of Her Majesty’s Inspectors of Schools from 2002 to 2009. Before that he taught for 31 years in four independent and maintained grammar schools, becoming headmaster of Bishop Wordsworth’s School, Salisbury, in 1992 and holding the post for 10 years.
Whilst at Bishop’s, Clive helped to set up and was one of the founding trustees of Trade Aid, a charity working to promote economic self-sufficiency through education and business enterprise in Southern Tanzania.
Clive left Trade Aid in 2006 when he was invited to become a patron of EdUKaid. Clive is a lay canon and member of the Chapter of Salisbury Cathedral. He is also a governor of an independent grammar school in Guilldford.
Since retiring as an HMI, Clive has worked as an educational consultant specialising in supporting initial teacher training and teachers’ continuing professional development.
Glenys Kinnock, Patron.
Glenys Kinnock was appointed Europe Minister in June 2009. She was an MEP for Wales between 1994-2009, and a party spokesman in the European Parliament on International Development.
On 12 October 2009, Glenys Kinnock was appointed Minister of State with responsibility for Africa, the Caribbean, Central America and the United Nations. She has long been a campaigner on issues relating to Africa and the Caribbean and cemented her reputation as an expert on the regions during her time as an MEP and as co-president of the Africa, Caribbean and Pacific – European Joint Parliamentary Assembly.
Glenys Kinnock founded and is President of One World Action, a Development NGO. She has also written widely on international issues, in particular on Africa.
Mr Nick Parker, Patron.
Nick Parker is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Tax. He is currently a Regional tax director with RSM Tenon PLC, the 7th largest accountancy practice in the UK. He has also been closely involved with Bishop Wordsworth’s School where his eldest son was educated - he was Chairman of the Governor’s at Bishop’s for many years. In addition he was Chairman of the trustees of Trade Aid but left in 2006.
Nick has visited Tanzania on a number of occasions and is honored to be a patron of EdUKaid.
