Becky's Training Blog for her Kilimanjaro Climb!October 21 2012

         18 weeks to go...

So this is only week one of training (of 18) and I am in agony from Tuesdays circuits class. I am not sure what relevance boxing, weight lifting and sit-ups have to climbing Kilimanjaro but I am told that it must be done, so I am cracking on with the pain. Yesterday was a rest day after the brutality of Tuesdays class. Back to the gym today with leg weights on the stepper for 30 mins amongst other, horrific 'training' exercises. Not sure how that's going to go...

This weekend will be the second weekend of walking- the first was the peak district around a month ago with my fellow climber Ruth -our 'warm up' to see how well we could go. I was pleased - 15 miles on day one and 10 miles on day two, all uphill. The fact I was unable to walk properly for around 3 days after was neither here nor there... we tested the new expensive boots (they are good), braved staying in a hostel (luxury compared to the mountain I would say) and almost succeeded in map reading (not going to need that up Kili).

Watch this space (or not, I may have overdone it and not be able to move AT ALL!)
